Techniblock SPF 30 Availability

When will the new SPF 30 be available?

Our South African supplier is working hard to develop a brand new, reef-friendly, Vegan and cruelty-free SPF 30 sunscreen. We hope to bring this into the UK sometime in June.  We will keep this page updated with a definite delivery date as soon as we have one.

In the meantime, if you're a die-hard SPF 30 user and are planning a holiday abroad in the next few months, please consider an upgrade to the SPF 40, which is still on offer as a 3 for 2 bundle, as well as in bundles that include a small, 75ml SPF 30 (whilst stocks last but currently only 60 remaining as of 26 March).

There is a relatively small difference between a 30 and 40 sunscreen as SPF only deals with the UVB part of the ultraviolet energy that comes from the sun. UVB energy causes redness and sunburn on the skin. It compares how much longer it takes for UVB to cause redness on the skin. So, an SPF of 30 means that, if it took 10 minutes for redness to appear on unprotected skin, it will take around 30 times that for the same symptoms to appear on the skin. Upgrading to an SPF 40 just means that your skin stays protected for a litle bit longer, 40 x 10 minutes as opposed to 30 x 10 minutes.  Plus, a slightly higher SPF will also block a little more UVB radiation; an SPF 30 blocks 97%; an SPF 40 blocks 98% and an SPF 50 blocks 99%.

We spent 2 weeks in Malaysia and Thailand earlier this year and used a mixture of SPF 40 and SPF 50 throughout.  We developed lovely golden tans without any burning whatsoever in spite of the daily 35 degree temperatures!

We think there's plenty of great reasons to upgrade to either the SPF 40 or the SPF 50 and we will post regular updates on the production of the new products as soon as we can.
